Comment on this Gene: No detailed expression literature found. Two BAC lines have almost identical expression at P7 except in the hippocampus. The BAC data is correct but incomplete. In P7 cortex, cells are very weakly labeled in the right layers (only clearly visible for some of the sections, such as 05 and 06 sections). But the cortical expression is evident in adult BAC mice and matches the in situ data. In hippocampus, the in situ data shows transient presence of Nefl mRNA in the subiculum at P7. No expression in the subiculum is seen in P7 BAC mice. In addition, only a few cells are faintly stained in the CA region in the P7 BAC data. The BAC exhibits an interesting, column-like expression pattern in the superior colliculus, which is not clear by the in situ.
